When I was a kid my parents used to take me on a lot of vacations. My dad was a teacher so he had the same time off as I did. Every March during we would spend the week at my grandmother’s in Boca Raton, Florida. She would be down there for most of the month of March.

Since we had a place to stay, we didn’t have to get a to help us with finding a hotel or anything like that.  When I was growing up we lived right outside of New York City.  Since this was a major city, it was a for many airlines. This meant that we didn’t have to take more than one plane to get somewhere.  There were no long in strange airports.  Our plane flew directly from NYC to Miami International airport.

Once we arrived at Grandma’s we would hit the beach right away.  After a day at the beach Grandma would take us to fun little restaurants that only locals knew about.   Many tourists would go to the in the area, because they didn’t know where else to go.  We stayed to avoid the big crowds that were common during Spring break. I have very fond memories of those vacations down there.

Now that I have a family of my own I try to take them on vacation a lot.  I work a lot more than my father did, so many of our vacations are a . I will do a little business and then spend time with my family.  My wife and I love to camp and hike so we enjoy the whole scene.  Our next trip is to the rain forest in Colombia to observe the natural wildlife and camp out.  Not exactly the fanciness of Grandma’s place in Florida, but we love it!
